By the way, there’s a Nigerian Price in your spam folder desperately wanting to get in touch. Trust me, you’ll want to hear him out. Also, your mother is trying to forward you a prayer chain―stop ignoring her messages!

In all seriousness, yes, this newsletter has been a long time coming. Brian Keene has been harping on me to start one of these for years, and now that I appear to be the last author to not have one, it seems like I better put my big boy pants on and get to work. So…yeah. Here I am. The Beyond the Darkness Newsletter (props to those who know where I stole the title from). Here’s a bit of an introduction if you don’t know who I am and you randomly signed up. My name is Wesley Southard. I’m a multi award-winning horror author originally from Indiana, now living in Pennsylvania. I currently have ten books in-print, all available on Amazon or my webstore (more on that later). I’m a husband and a father, and I love cats, heavy metal, and Italian horror films. I’m sure there’s more, but why bore you?

Here’s what I’d like to do with this weekly newsletter. Let’s face it: social media has become a clown show. I don’t like being on any of them any more than any of you. With all the racism, politics, and fighting, they’re a time suck and a pain in the ass and who needs them, right? My plan is to have one of these send to you weekly (probably on Sundays), filled with what I’m doing in my life, writing updates, what I’m currently watching and reading, highlights on my new books, giveaways, and newsletter exclusive discounts for my personal webstore (wesleysouthardhorror.com) for signed books and merch. Also, for the foreseeable future, I’m doing a full re-watch of the entire Tales from the Crypt HBO series from late 80’s/early 90’s, seeing as how a was gifted the DVD box set for Christmas this year. I’m very excited about this, seeing as how I haven’t viewed many of these episodes in nearly thirty years.

So…yeah. That’s it. Obviously things will change, kinks will get worked and smoothed out, hair gel will be applied. I’ll talk about different things, depending on what’s happened the previous week. It’s a roadtrip after all, and you’ll get to experience all the bumps and potholes right along with me. I’m just happy to finally have a more direct line to you, my readers and supporters. Thank you to everyone who signed up for this journey. You guys mean more to me than you’ll ever know.
